‘Connectivity’ has become a buzzword in aviation over the past few years, alongside ‘sustainability’ and ‘cyber security’. With internet connectivity becoming so readily available over the past few decades in every hotel, restaurant, conference, even on yachts, it’s no surprise that aircraft are no longer considered exempt from offering the same.

It’s become standard, expected even, that passengers flying in First or Business Class on airliners will receive free access to internet. So imagine a passenger’s shock when they discover that no internet connectivity is available on an exclusive charter flight.

Bern, Switzerland – May 29, 2024 – Q.C.M. holding AG is pleased to announce that on May 22, 2024, Mr. Markus Enck and co-owners finalized an agreement to sell the shares and to transfer the ownership of QCM holding to Dr. Daniel Borer, Mr. Christian Schusser, and Mr. Luke Oppliger, effective July 1st, 2024.  

This exciting acquisition follows 25 years of leadership from Markus Enck as Q.C.M. holding AG’s CEO and founder, and marks a significant milestone in the company’s history, promising continued growth and new opportunities. 

In the world of aviation, ensuring the continuing airworthiness of your aircraft is imperative to ensure its safety and value retention. However, achieving these goals requires meticulous oversight and adherence to strict regulations. This is where a Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization (CAMO) steps in, offering tailored maintenance and operational programs endorsed by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

In 2019, regulatory bodies, including the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), mandated the elimination of halon extinguishers from aircraft.

Within business aviation, business jets typically support one of two main use cases: transporting VIP passengers, or transporting patients in medical emergencies (medical evacuation, or medevac).  

From early 2024, QCM Flamelab will be offering oil burn for seat cushion tests alongside our other fire testing capabilities.

Oil burn for seat cushion tests play a vital role in ensuring the safety and performance of seat cushions in aircraft. Using a high-intensity open flame, we can determine burn resistance and weight loss characteristics, ensuring that they meet stringent safety standards, and meet regulatory compliance.

In the realm of aviation, adaptability is not just a luxury but a necessity. Aircraft owners and operators often face the challenge of configuring their cabins to meet diverse needs, from providing medical evacuation capabilities to offering luxurious VIP experiences. This challenge becomes even more complex when considering the resale value of the aircraft. How can one balance the need for a medivac setup with the desire to maintain the pristine condition of a VIP configuration for future buyers?

Ten years of innovation, dedication, and growth — QCM Design is celebrating a successful first decade. From its humble beginnings in 2013, QCM Design is now a thriving DOA which has grown from a team of 1 employee to 15, and completed over 800 projects in that time.

Like most other businesses, we have had our fair share of obstacles and challenges to overcome this year. However, the continued outstanding work of everyone in the team, including our new additions, plus the trust of our longstanding and new customers, has immensely contributed to QCM’s success in 2023. As technology advances, the term ‘fuel’ no longer covers all the possibilities of energy sources for flying objects, and the old wording became gradually more restrictive.

The QCM design GmbH DOA is thrilled to have received the EASA Supplemental Type Certificate for the Collins Aerospace LuxStream Ku-band Network Installation with a Gimbal Antenna and WiFi Hotspots.
